Master Regina Jiyeon Im** is the Founder and Executive Director of Newtopia Enterprise Inc. dba Korea Taekwondo (KTKD). Born in South Korea and immigrating to the US in 1995, she was a gymnast and began her Taekwondo journey in 1999. Master Im holds a fifth-degree black belt.
In 2008, she established Newtopia Enterprise Inc. and partnered with the NYC Department of Education to introduce Taekwondo in schools, impacting over 40,000 students, parents, and teachers.
Master Im has developed a tailored Taekwondo curriculum for public schools and instructor training. She has also published several Taekwondo books, including the "KTKD Kids Character Development Series" and co-authored "Taekwon Tales" to promote anti-bullying through Taekwondo.
In 2009, she opened the Korea Taekwondo-KTKD center, the "Home of Life Champions." Membership tripled by 2015, and a new branch was added in 2021. Recognized as New York City’s #1 Family Martial Arts Center, KTKD has expanded to Columbus, Ohio.
Master Im holds a Taekwondo Master-Instructor License from Kukkiwon and a BBA in Finance and Investments from Baruch College.
Master Seungrok Kim
Co-Owner & Director
Master Seungrok (SR) Kim is the Co-owner and Director of Korea Taekwondo (KTKD). Starting as an employee master at KTKD Flushing in 2015, he became a co-owner within three years and helped expand the center, leading to the establishment of KTKD Corona in 2021.
With over 40 years of Taekwondo experience, Master Kim earned his sixth-degree black belt and has competed in national tournaments in Korea. He has also served as a coach, referee, and judge in Korea and the US. His additional qualifications include a second-degree black belt in Hapkido and Judy, a first-degree black belt in Kumdo, and experience as a Captain in the South Korean Army. He holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from Brooklyn College and a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Chosun University.
